[Main] (Temp (Ban) appealing for Validhunting

Post by HHgregg »

BYOND Name: HHgregg

Reason Banned:

"As a mindshielded sec officer ran into a group of revs and proceded to plasma fire and burn them to death. This is a violation of rule 7.1 "do not validhunt" and there is a three day ban behind this.
Admin who banned:
MrJWhit
Length Banned:
Three days
Appeal Reason:
Correction: I was mindshielded, but not a sec officer.
Alright, at the time of the ban, I was content to sit there and take it, but I looked at the rules a bit.
Rule 7.1 postulates: "Do not abandon your job to search out, hunt for, or attack antagonists unless it is related to your department's field of work, or unless you or nearby crew-members are under a direct and immediate threat from an antagonist."
While I was the curator, my job was indeed abandoned, there was an immediate threat posed by the revolutionaries. They were grouped up in the maint bar, murdered the captain and a sec borg. Security was faltering, two officers deceased, super matter sabotaged. and no one else would have been able to act to destroy the base. If it were not for the intervention of loyal crewmembers, group threats like cults would not easily be dealt with, and sec would likely lose given their low numbers. While I am content to wait out the ban, I simply wish to have made a new case after reviewing rule 7.1.

All right, the ban length has served it's time, and I'm willing to totally make a change to you being mindshielded curator, and not a sec officer, and I'll make that adjustment.

However, I don't want to promote a "murder as many savable valids as you possibly can with the most violent way possible" at the moment. Regular revs are totally available to be deconverted, and just raw mass murder of them isn't great. The most aggressive solution shouldn't be the first line of defense in any situation.

The ban did run its course though and was the primary motivator, so I'm moving this to denied.
