Appeal Reason: I want to use the Citadel Discord and I feel the ban was unjust / uncalled for. The people who were complaining about my use of the word retard have blocked me before and I was under the assumption they couldn't see it. They blocked me for different reasons. Furthermore they openly said they'd preffer me banned than blocked because it's apparently too much of an issue for them to deal with and that they'd just read my messages either way. Lots of people use discriminatory terms as jokes and playful insults, and as far as I was aware at the time no one was taking issue with it except for people who had blocked me.

If its really an issue then I will stop using those sorts of terms but the fact that their apparent motivation for reporting me was to get me banned, I feel as though it's not valid.

As of 1am EST a 24 hour ban is in place that I'll remove or have removed after expiration. The ban is in place now to give time for all parties involved to cool off. Both parties involved were warned about continued negative discourse and if the problem persist both will come under greater scrutiny and possible corrective action. Please attempt to be less toxic in your future use of the discord, and if theres problems with particular players please consult the admin team about this or create player complaints. Also consider speaking about to the player rep as a medium to resolve issues between you and anyone whom you're having issues.

To be honest, I don't think you should be allowed back into the Discord as you can't cut it out with your consistent toxic behavior towards everyone, half of the time I can't even tell if you use the word "retard" ironically or as a proper insult, even then it's still annoying and toxic. I was one of the people complaining about his use of the word, and yes, I did temporarily block him for this reason:

I'll admit my insult was trash and I probably shouldn't have just outright insulted him for just that, but his behavior there wasn't needed. I was only (poorly) defending the people who were just posting what they liked.

I will also say, yes, I would prefer him to be banned rather than blocked because the block function is almost useless, and even if I did use it he would still be toxic to the people of the community who are either A. New and haven't experienced his behavior or B. Just don't care about him. The people who took an issue with it did block you, at least most of us did, because we found your behavior absolutely toxic and un-nessecary. You violate everything within rule one on a daily basis

Pasotel consistently violates the harassment part of this rule on a daily basis. Even if half of the time when he says "retard" in a joking manner it still paints the community with a toxic image. I wouldn't want to join a Discord server as a new player only to find this guy constantly spamming retard like it's an actually funny joke, that'll put me off and make me not want to stay in the community any longer if my first impression is someone like this.

I refrained from commenting at the time as it was turning into a hot mess, but hopefully now that cooler heads are prevailing I'd like to add something from the perspective of a former admin for other communities;

Admins and staff aren't all-seeing, all-knowing gods, and I know that this is common sense to a lot of people but it still bears stating. They cannot see every single instance of language misuse being thrown around, and this "nobody else is getting punished so it must be okay" attitude is exactly the kind of thing that allows these "jokes" to become so prevalent. People shouldn't have to block you when you're actively breaking a server rule! Your intent doesn't matter when rules are being broken.

The exact same thing goes for characters that are problematic in some way (e.g. egregious rule/lore violations).

Basically, if someone's doing it, report it; don't let it sit or even worse contribute and perpetuate it. Don't assume someone else has reported it, either; worst case scenario if someone has an admin will say something along the lines of "yes, we're aware, thanks". The place doesn't need to turn into a soft fluffy padded cell full of love and hugs where you can't even say something as tame as 'heck', but it shouldn't be a toxic pit either.

Given the fact you only recently got unbanned from the discord, (Not even two months ago) after getting banned for toxic behavior, I cant even support the unban after a day that Derkuleen mentioned.
