BYOND Name: Terranaut
Reason Banned: Took on a personnal vendetta after getting a poor judgement/demotion from the Captain/HoP. Decided that since the admins were afk and didn't responded to their ahelps that they could self-antag, venting the brig, breaking the Grav Gen APC and even more chaos. After explaining to them for a good 45 minutes they simply refused to accept the fact that it is not allowed to self antag even if an admin doesn't respond to their ahelps. Look at the note for more details.
The Note: As engineer on a lowpop shift, they wanted to help security by fixing the breaches in the brig so they decided they wanted the CE jetpack. They wanted the fireaxe from atmo to break the CE locker open. They were told that the axe had been stolen and that the culprit broke open the HoS locker. They then made a stunprod to try to stop said person down and went to the locker location. Once they got there they took a couple of stuff from it, said things being the pinpointer and the HoS Cloak. They discovered that the Captaini didn't even secured the disk and made fun of them. Later into the round someone found the stolen axe at cargo and told everyone, Terranaut went to recover it, and the Captain asked to recover it to scan it. Once the axe was given the captain assumed they were the culprit due to them wearing the HoS cloak + the pinpointer and went to demote them. The demotion was really done poorly, stripping them completely, even their shoes except for the jumpsuit and took a good while. They then got angry at the Captain and HoP and went on personnal vendatta. Venting mutiples part of the station (mostly the brig), destroyed the SMES cells twice, broke the Gravitiy gen APC and caused a couples of brownouts. Note that they might've done even worse. This is a case of severe self-antaging for a personnal vendetta. EDIT : This is the second case of them trying to take care of IC issues with personnal vendettas IC. EDIT2 : I was told by the person who played the Captain that didn't actually demoted them for that exact reason. Once Rhey came to them with the axe they asked them if they could search them (Since they had the HoS gear + had the axe used for the crime), and they simply refused, pulling out a stunprod to stun them a couple times before running away.
Banning admin: Fractious
Ban Length: 2 Weeks
Reason: Several things about both notes are wrong. I'm gonna go through them in no particular order.
One: I didn't make fun of the captain. I sent a mildly amused PDA message to the person who gave me the pinpointer (something along the lines of "haha guess where the disk is : )" or to that effect).
Two: Missing from the explanation is the 8 minute brig sentence that went with the demotion, after which I had to leave the brig through disposals since nobody was there to pick me up and I had no means of communicating with the outside. I was accused of escaping the prison and flooding N2O which had apparently happened in the meantime and the HoP had tried to attack me, at which point I disarmed their taser and they ran off. It was the combined amount of abuse that caused me to want to retaliate but this specific attack long after anything had happened coupled with wrongful accusations based on personal incompetence was the proverbial drop.
Three: I didn't vent multiple parts of the station. I smashed a couple brig windows exposed to space. Since it had been command that had wronged me my rationale at the time was to damage infrastructure while making sure crew don't get hurt.
Four: "Note that they might've done even worse." That's not only wrong but almost maliciously so. If I had wanted to do worse I would've but I specifically avoided combat (I didn't chase after the HoP when I got their taser, for example) and didn't interfere with the engineers fixing what I'd done. I went out of my way to help two assistants who'd been caught in an EMP panic siphon who objectively without my help would've died in one case, or just stayed dead in the other ones case. I'm not saying that a right and a wrong cancel each other out here but I'm pointing this out just to underline that I was genuinely concerned about the general crews wellbeing and only wanted to cause a headache for command staff at worst.
Five: I didn't stunprod the Captain to avoid a search. Considering I had been compliant in sharing all information previously, proactively told the Captain that I had recovered the axe and immediately gave him my location when he asked for it, I was genuinely surprised when he accused me of being the person behind it. Pointing out that, if I was the culprit, I would probably attack him rather than chat with him for a good while (he was alone and in melee range with me while I was holding both the stunprod and the fireaxe). He reasoned that apparently I was an extremely bad and stupid traitor to which I replied with stunprodding him and walking away, which the HoP who'd arrived moments before stopped.
Six: During the ahelp (and previous ahelps for some of the notes I have about supposed over-escalation) I asked two or three times how I should have behaved, and should in the future behave when somebody is doing their best to stop me from playing the game for no good reason. I don't think that that even remotely translates or is interpretable as 'refuses to accept that their actions were wrong' as the ban reason is saying. I genuinely struggle to understand how you're getting that from my words, like, I am seriously asking for guidance on what to do in those situations.
So taking all of that together I am asking for
a) Leniency on the ban length, considering I understand that my actions were overboard and this is my first gameban here
b) an actual answer to my question on how I'm supposed to behave in a way that both works within the rules and isn't just "well let it happen and ahelp" or "just ghost/do something else" which are actual suggestions I've gotten from players. I have ahelped this and I have ahelped similiar things in the past and generally dont get replies even within an hour or until long after the round, and I don't want to just ghost, since, well, I like to play this game.
