How long have you played on Citadel?: about 7 months
How long have you played SS13?: 8-9 Months
What is your timezone/general hours of activity?: EST, and Generally I am on whenever I am not working, So Mornings and Well into the Night on my off days. (7-12p/4-12a)
Previous SS13 related admin experience: None.
Previous non-SS13 related admin experience: Gmod Admin on Multiple Dark RP Servers, Experience dealing with Situations that involved In character interactions and a ruleset that requires case by case determination, and that is highly situational.
Current administrators who have agreed to support your application: N/A
Reason for application: I have spent a fair bit of the last few months really getting into the station, trying to learn its ins and outs. and defending myself against Admin action, and I feel like, as unfortunate as these events were, they have given me insight on how the rules are interperated and acted upon, aswell as how they are handled in game. I also notice that the hours I play on, Seem to be lacking presence, whether this is becuase Ghostmin or not is unknown to me, as a layman, but I would like to offer my services to fill such voids, since I am around anyways.
Below you will be required to describe how you would handle a handful of scenarios that may or may not require admin intervention.Â
For every scenario, describe your personal opinion of the intentions of the player(s), whether you think you should intervene, and how you would initiate an intervention with the player(s) if you decide to.
There are technically no "correct" answers for this, but you will be judged on how you respond to these questions.
You observe two players having a fist-fight in the bar. Player 1 puts Player 2 into critical condition, and then Player 1 quickly leaves the bar to go heal them-self. Checking their attack logs, you find that neither of them had any interaction before they started fighting. Checking their say logs however, you discover that both of them got in a verbal confrontation that got very heated, and that Player 2 both initiated the confrontation and threw the first punch. How do you proceed?
Provided that the say logs, showed a clear escalation in their arguement, to the point where it would make RP sense for one of the players, Especially in the bar, to throw a punch, I would say that the Issue was IC, since Crit isnt murder, it would be best dealt with by Security forces, I might have a chat with them about escalation in terms of grappling and throwing, perhaps, or spilling a drink on the other. But as far as the ruleset is concerned, It is "acceptable" for a Verbal confrontation, to escalate into a brawl, and a brawl isnt over until one guy is passed out on the floor waiting for "Inspector Johnson" to beep in.
You observe one player acting suspiciously and decide to watch them. While watching, you discover that they are a new player with less than a day of time on the server. You also discover that they haven't said anything for the entire round. Their contents include a full set of tools, and not much else. While watching they spend their time breaking into unsecure areas like the bar back room, hydroponics, the chapel office, EVA. How do you proceed?
I would grow suspuscious of the player, who probably has more experience in the game then is let on, I would check their IP and make sure there wasnt a congruent connection with a more known, perhaps, more "Noted" player. and then I would check to make sure they arent an Antag, making use of the fact they are miscreant or something more, and breaking into those areas for their tasks. If not, I would definitely "Sit" them down and refer to the ruleset on powergaming, especially if they are an assistant. I would clarify and guide them through what Powergame is, Giving them a benefit of the doubt they maybe they just really read up on the game before playing, and arent familiar with the terminology, but I would firmly remind them, that if they dont need it, and can't reach it without a Greytide brand master key, they probably shouldnt have it, unless the station is at risk or they are an Antag.
You observe Player 1 who is a scientist building a combat mech. When they're finished, they allow Player 2 who is their friend and an assistant to come and take the combat mech out of the department. Later, Player 2 gets into a fight with security over the possession of the combat mech, and decides to try killing the security players but fails and is killed by security instead. How do you proceed?
I would check all the logs and try to locate some evidence of Perhaps Metacomming or Metafriending, I would check to see if they atleast ICly worked out asking for the joyride, If it existed, I would note the possible metafriend, and Note the Roboticist after warning him about Powergame, if not, I would press my investigation further, Trying to find out why the roboticist gave the mech to the assistant, As a moderator, I would also probably start seeking council with a higher level adminstrator, since trying to find clearcut evidence of Meta-Anything can prove difficult, Overall, It would be classified as Powergame on the assistants part, and the roboticists, since the Powergame rule also covers People handing over poweritems willingly. I would then classify the Struggle between the Greysuit and the Security forces and ICly handled, unless otherwise told to.
