Not to be a nuisance of myself as a non-staff-member, but I think you need to reread the first prompt, as you're treating it as if the initiator of combat won the fight instead when the prompt says that the initiator's the one that got beat to crit.

I don't really know if it's cool for non-staff to critique technique so on that front I'll refrain from critique.
