Your side of the story: Basically I was being a massive dickhead with cutting off the hotel officer's arms, but after it was over I started to realize how far I was going (heat of the moment combined with it being a ghost role). The officer in question had their baton out and seemed like she was ready to attack when Faith and Hera walked in. So I disarmed the officer, batoned them, and when they got up and started to come at me, I used the cutter to take their arms off. Only after did I begin to realize I was going a bit too far with that. That's why when Faith was repeatedly stabbing the hotel officer with a screwdriver I told her to stop. Faith got a week ban for the incident.

Why you think you should be unbanned: The inconsistency between admin rulings in this scenario and many others is severe. After speaking with many regulars of the server, a couple coders, and even an ex-staff member, the general consensus is this is not perma worthy. A week, sure. I'd take a week ban with no complains, even a probation of some kind when I come back. But a perma is absolutely insane for attacking a ghost role when we allow for outright genocide of ash walkers, golems, murdering space hermits and Charlie crew, all without provocation.

Cutting off the hotel member's arms was excessive, I'm not going to say it wasn't. But again, many people stepped up in game and after the round to say it's absolutely unreasonable for a perma to be applied. On top of that, I want to bring up that Geem, in DMs, told me "we'd ban a newbie for this", yet Faith's player was given a week ban in response to their efforts to actually outright kill the officer. And if notes came into play when discussing the potential for a permaban, then there are notes I have that outright cannot correlate to this situation and some that outright should be appealed, but was led to believe it was too late to appeal them. I've only had one ban that lasted three days for killed AIs built by a random scientist during extended to make an "AI council", and multiple times admins have said that it takes a lot before a perma is applied to people, Geem himself being one of the admins making this statement.

A week ban would give me time to step back and chill from the game, which can then result in me becoming more rational and less prone to spontaneous actions both IC and OOC. A perma ban, in my eyes and several other member's of the community's eyes, is excessive. I'm not asking for a full unban, all I want is a week and perhaps probation after the ban is up.

I'd be in support of reducing this to a tempban with the caveat that not all ghost roles are intended to be valid on sight, and that you understand you were in the wrong for attacking them when they were simply doing their job of protecting hotel property.

Hence why I said in the appeal that I realize I was going too far. Even stunning was kinda harsh but the delimbing was... yeah. And again, not asking for a full ban lift, just reducing to a week. Then again any length of time below forever is a reduction too. Regardless, I do admit I was being a complete asshole there and never argued that. I just want a bit more fairness here considering the other guy got a week after Geem told me they'd perma a newbie for this incident.

I am fine with turning this into a temporary ban, from my experience you aren't a bad player, you simply get heated up like this often. It was definitely a bad thing to do and you should really reconsider but I'd support turning this into a temp one. Honestly it shouldn't feel this normal to instantly beat up someone outside of the station.
