Staff Complaint - Raeschen
BYOND Name of complaint against: Raeschen
Your BYOND name: ariever
Date of issue and round ID: 11/17 ID 10340
Reason for Complaint:
I would've let this go if he didn't get sassy with me in admin PMs, so here it is.
So, while in the lobby, I noticed that this admin in particular was in the round, and not deadminned. I made a sort-of meme-y ahelp to tell min to deadmin himself, and he said that he didn't have to.
Now get this. While I was a staffer (for 2 weeks, mind you) I got yelled at for not deadmining on extended, so I assumed that it was only policy to deadmin while in a round. Now, when I PMed him, he had this to say:
PM to-Admins: >in game and not deadminned
-- Administrator private message --
Admin PM from-Raeschen: i don't have to deadmin whilst playing.

PM to-Admins: im fairly sure thats an admin rule :/
-- Administrator private message --
Admin PM from-Raeschen: as an actual admin, i can say it's a guideline, not a rule.

PM to-Admins: and you aren't making all the other admins look bad by not following them? And don't talk to me like i wasn't on the team previously, bucko

Admin PM from-Raeschen: ok that's disrespectful

PM to-Admins: and like your passive aggressiveness wasn't disrespectful to me?

Admin PM from-Raeschen: if you have an issue about the way i admin, you're free to make a post on the forums. please don't argue in ahelps.

PM to-Admins: aite boo, have a nice day
Well first of all, he was incorrect when he said that it was a guideline: it's a regulation. Not only that, but I'd like you all to look at this part:
"as an actual admin,"
So not only was he insulting my position compared to his, he got passive aggressive towards me when I confronted him peacefully. I am an admin, on a different server. He has no right insulting my intelligence when he was the one at fault. And when I retaliate, I'm the disrespectful one?
This I feel, is a reoccurring problem, where the player is often talked down to or dismissed completely by some of the admins here, even when the situation is an important one. I mean, you only have to look at how long it takes for some of the tickets in the #admin_forum channel to get resolved to get at what I'm talking about.

If they affect the round using metainfo, they are punished. If they don't use it to combat antags or events, it's fine. Better to have an active admin on.

When i admin-play, i pretty much act dumb and ignore antags unless prompted or directly attacked by them. I believe myself to be able to play with admin enabled, without the meta info bothering my way of playing or causing me to make meta-based decisions.Â
Untill such time as i am seen to be breaking the rules, i will remain like this.

Uh, yeah, as long as they're not security, a head of staff, or antags, an admin is free to active-min while playing, unless they use metainfo to screw over antags or similar

Also let me add: you got yelled at for ahealing yourself whilst playing, not for playing with active admin.

Yeah, that's really just a specified line about not using admin access to one's advantage, like ahealing yourself,
So no, Raeschen isn't making us all look bad.
He's a good lizard.

As long as you aren't a head, AI, sec or an antag it's an nbd. Just stick with something unimportant.

RE: Staff Complaint - Raeschen
In the end you have to trust our staff team to show restraint when playing the game, it's not always an easy thing to do, especially if you and the staff in question have had trouble with one another in the past, but it is within our rights to keep our admin abilities on hand in case the server is in need our help at any point due to a lack of staff observing or even a large population.
Raeschen was not trying to get sassy with you, he was being as pragmatic as possible about the situation and this can be mistaken for terse speech or a lack of caring, know that we're all individual humans and although we do our best to speak to you in a semi-professional manner, staff jobs are prone to repetition and stress.
So if I might ask a favor, be lenient on our team members unless they are outright acting out of malice.
