[DeltaFire] Admin Application

Post by DeltaFire »

BYOND ckey: DeltaFire

Character names: Augments-The-Body / Deviant / DoorControl

Discord username (+user id): H3r3t1c#7869 aka Weh Operative

How long have you played on Citadel?: About 11 months

How long have you played SS13?: 1 year and 3 months

What is your timezone/general hours of activity?: CET, about 4-5pm to 2-4am

Previous SS13 related admin experience: Adminned on Hippie for a few months before coming here

Previous non-SS13 related admin experience: Moderated a few discords, some bigger some smaller. Nothing else really.

Current administrators who have agreed to support your application: Probably kevinz since they told me to apply for admin

Reason for application: When playing here I often see rounds where there are no admins on and issues remain unhandled, aswell as in general there apparently existing a general lack of admins. Since I do like this server quite alot, I'd like to help out and assist with keeping this server / community fun for the players.

Please answer the following questions to the best of your abilities:

1. How would you engage with two players having an out of character altercation?
As long as its civil and doesn't spiral, it'd be fine to have in ooc, though if tone starts to leave being civil / insults get thrown around or people dogpile on it I'd tell them to drop it, with suggestion of moving it onto the forums (If complaint with a players playstyle / simillar) or into dms / discord in general (If just general discussion between the players that was civil but too extensive for ooc), possibly disabling ooc for a bit if many people refuse to comply or just giving them a temporary ooc ban to cool down.

2. What should an admin do if they're involved in a situation that needs admin intervention?
Under no circumstances should they attempt to handle the situation themselves as even if you think you are only acting by facts, the answer will always be at least slightly biased. The admin should ask other admins in adminsay if they could handle the situation if others are online or, if not, ping admins in a admin-channel on discord and ask them to hop online for a second to handle that situation.

3. How should an admin determine in what way to punish someone who breaks the rules?
In general, they should refer to the guidelines in the punishment policy on the rules page, aswell to possible addtions that might be somewhere in admin-only channels. Furthermore, context is always relevant. Did they do it just because they could or was there more to it? Do they already have notes relevant to this issue and / or were warned before? Did they attempt to talk around the situation and lie or were they compliant, assisted in the investigation and were genuinely sorry for doing what they did? All of these and possibly more depending on situation can influence possible punishments.

4. Under what conditions should an admin de-admin themselves while playing?
An admin should de-admin themselves if playing a antagonist, a command or security role, AI or any other role that would heavily profit from possible active or subliminal metaknowledge via the admin-chat / logs. In some cases they may not be able to deadmin effectively though, for example when they are the only admin online and there are no others available to handle ahelps, in which case they should attempt to handle the visibility of the achat / action logs as best as possible without it influencing their actions, if possible getting another admin to hop on.

5. What is expected of an admin on Citadel?
Professionalism: A admin should maintain high standards, be it in ooc communication or in ahelps. They should not respond impolitely if possible, even if insulted themselves and generally try to maintain a calm attitiude
Activity: Admins should usually be at least somewhat active on the server, sans if they are on vaccation or taking a break, though other admins should usually be informed in advance if possible.
Communication: A admin should be able to communicate with others, be it players to handle ahelps, player complaints, issues and discussions or with admins to coordinate, make oneself / others aware of possible problems with staff or handle other internal issues.
Teamwork: Admins need to be able to work together in a team. Together admins can be better, be it by assisting oneanother or by making eachother aware of issues / solving them as a team.
Also, in general, admins should try to make the round fun for everyone, or at least as many as possible, counteracting unfun things like murderboning, antags not doing their objectives / their 'work' or simillar things.
