Security Jobban - Pasotel Makino

Post by Bacon_Enderman » Thu Jan 10, 2019 10:17 pm

BYOND Name: Bacon_Enderman

Reason Banned: Admin Notes:

Banned from Head of Security, Warden, Detective, Security Officer - Continual bad behavior as a security officer involving manhunts, major contraband charges, and other crimes. Admin consensus is that such behavior is not befitting an officer, especially on a higher roleplay setting that the server is attempting to uphold. Bacon can appeal on the forums after showing an improvement in their behavior in other positions. by nethaufer (GameAdmin) on Wed, January 2nd of 2019

Watch for them taking the shotgun out of the brig in the future. Too many times have they fired on people in the escape shuttle for shit reasons by Crashinator08 (GameAdmin) on Sat, December 22nd of 2018

Warned about their terrible sec behavior, and that a sec ban will likely be coming for them if they continue their horrible security behavior. Such as using the sec comms as a personal chat with another crewmember, then throwing a fit at being told off for it. In this case, ordering a breacher unathi suit then leaving the station and sparking a manhunt. by Nethaufer (GameAdmin) on Wed, December 26th of 2018

Length Banned: Permanently

Appeal Reason:To begin with, I admit that starting a manhunt and throwing pills was poor security behavior. Furthermore I am now aware that actions outside security now count. I'm aware now of the inter-round consequences, which I appreciate being added. At the time of the manhunt incident my only IC options at the time were to accept being fired for a stupid reason or run away so I did, and I didn't outright try to ruin other people's play or self antag. I was being fired for insulting the HoS, and I had already stopped saying things over the radio. Personally I think that the IC SoP should change so Command Staff can't just fire people for trivial reasons.

Furthermore I didn't order a Breacher suit, I just took one from EVA. Seems like an odd detail to change, or perhaps someone gave them shit details.

As for the shotgun, I understand now that I am not allowed to use it. Before I was told that I couldn't have it visible outside the brig but from now on I'll change the ammunition to stun bolts and or not bring it outside the brig. I fired on people who were either kidnapping / fiddling with HuT prisoners, or people who chloraled me. Now I know that I'm better off using ahelps for that sort of thing, though honestly I enjoy IC incidents, but the message not to overuse the shotgun is received.

When concerning the Major Contraband, I was charged with it when I went into the Asteroid sex dungeon, saw six naked people and just threw pills on the floor beside them. I didn't think I would be charged for peddling drugs. I just decideed to make a shady scene more shady by throwing drugs around as a silly IC moment. Furthermore I was off duty and only after getting the secban was I told that actions when not in security counted. Other people had started manhunts so I hope you could understand my position at the time.

I want to start of by saying how much I appreciate your politeness with this appeal and that you waited a week or so before actually posting it.

The major issue revolving around why action was taken on you was because almost all of the incidents that occurred happened while you were a security officer or were off duty as one and it wasn't a case of one specific issue being the reason why you had the sec ban placed on you. Someone doing these as any other non-security and non-head job may not have warranted as much attention but because you were a security officer who is meant to be upholding SoP... well you can sort of see the issue there. Even with law violations being a sort of grey area for persistence and are considered resolved between shifts, a sec officer wouldn't likely to be continued to be employed.

Now, to address your responses to your notes and your appeal reason.

The manhunt bit, at least, is addressed by my paragraph above. A sec officer shouldn't violate SoP, unless for incredibly good reason. In regards to the breacher suit, I believe someone else said you ordered it, but I never fact checked because I have had zero interaction with the EVA suit storage so I wouldn't have known that it was possible to get one from there, so my apologies for not digging a bit deeper for that.

The warden shotgun is a bit of an unknown for me, as I'm not well educated on what they can and can't do with their shotgun, but I'd agree that having it stashed in the office or stowed in your bag with non-lethal rounds (except for on higher alert levels) may be the best bet with that. In character incidents are nice, but I haven't seen any that go too terribly well when they're forced. Even then, I don't think a sec officer should be the one starting them.

In regards to being off duty sec and still having the actions counted as a sec officer, that was something that the RP team decided upon as you are still representing security with the title of 'Off Duty Officer'. And yes, while others have started manhunts before, they also weren't a sec officer, fired or not.

So the verdict of this appeal. I'm willing to show leniency in part of your delay to actually post the appeal and your behavior in it. You do seem to want to have another chance and have learned from the incidents. Just to re-iterate, the issue didn't lay soley on the events themselves, at least beyond the shotgun note, but because you were doing these actions while in a job that is supposed to prevent others from doing the same thing. That's not saying you would have free reign if you were an explorer, but that it weighed more heavily on you doing them because of being in that role. I also think you got a bit of a raw deal with us deciding that off duty sec actions count as still being a sec officer of sorts, so that factors in as well.

I'll be lifting the ban once you get the chance to respond to this post, but keep in mind you'll obviously be on thin ice for a time, so put what you say you now understand to practice, and the admin team will decide if you truly mean to better yourself.

Yup I fully accept that I'll be watched, that's to be expected since I'm freshly unbanned. And I'm aware that there were likely other actions / behaviour that accumulated to a secban. I just responded to what I had in my notes. Reputation in security, I assume, is what probably added to it. So if it means anything I'll play slightly less abrasively. I just have a tendency ICly to outright call out incompetence, it's just the sort of style I've come to know whilst playing SS13, rather than being more constructive. Or at least constructive immediately instead of taking the mick first. I'll try to be less rude and additionally follow the guidelines you've set here and when I recieved the ban and ask when I'm unsure.

Calling out incompetence is one thing, but you've gotta be able to roll with the consequences. I'll be lifting the ban when I get home from work in about five hours or so.
