Introduction

On Citadel Station you can encounter plenty of different Races and plenty of Languages. The question now is, which should your character be capable of speaking, this is why this guide exists. And to give an overview over them.

Summary

Universal Languages

Universal Languages are languages you can encounter people speaking almost everywhere be it among the crowded humans on Earth, the clans amongst the Hegemony, or frontier settlers. Don't expect everyone to know them all but everyone should know at least one of these (unless they lived under a rock for the last 600 years).

Language Key Description
Galactic common 0 A language made by humans to be used as a colonial standard, it is now the most well-spread language in the Galaxy.
Tradeband 2 Maintained by the various trading cartels in major systems, this elegant, structured language is used for bartering and bargaining.

Sinta'unathi o The common language of the Moghes Hegemony, composed of sibilant hisses and rattles. Spoken natively by Unathi.
Siik j The most prevalant language of Meralar, composed of expressive yowls and chirps. Native to the Tajaran.
Akhani h The language of the sea-faring Njarir'Akhan Tajaran. Borrowing some elements from Siik, the language is distinctly more structured.
Alai l A standardized Tajaran sign language that was developed in Zarraya and gradually adopted by other nations, incorporating hand gestures and movements of the ears and tail.
Common Skrellian k A set of warbles and hums, the language itself a complex mesh of both melodic and rhythmic components, exceptionally capable of conveying intent and emotion of the speaker.
High Skrellian p The most common language among the Skrellian Far Kingdoms. Has an even higher than usual concentration of inaudible phonemes.
