For several centuries, Humanity has been experiencing a trend of rapid expansion. Rocketing onto the galactic stage in a manner unforseen, this meteoric rise has led to the appearance of new problems. Chief among those is the need to develop the Frontier freely and foster further exploration. Over the years businesses have formed conglomerates and transformed into massive Megacorporations akin to lesser governments themselves. On the Frontier these companies are the Law, and as Civilization creeps in behind them, they are content to drive ever outward.

Although the Megacorporations own the Frontier, most of known inhabited space is overseen by the Galactic Powers. From Humanity's Orion Confederation to the Vikara Combine, and beyond that the Moghes Hegemony, civilized space spans a broad and ever-changing expanse. These governments are the primary force behind day to day life in the Galaxy.

| The Galaxy is vast, and the Fermi Paradox has long been tossed out the window. There are many significantly developed species currently active across the Galaxy. Although some races adhere to governmental borders and identities, the vast majority are free to travel wherever they please. For those souls who find no solace in civilized space, the Frontier is always beckoning. |
